Local Job Website Update
I’m not impressed. I seem to have lost my rankings, but I am not giving up. The two keyphrases that I want to rank for, I am on page 8 and page 20. In response, I have changed the structure of the website so that recent posts are on the front page, instead of a page that contained little content and a script pulling in job postings. This really was a bad idea in the first place. I have also reduced the number of ads and am focusing more on content over the next few months. I have big plans for this website once it gets to the front page of Google. I would like to turn it into a traditional job board, where employers pay to post jobs. I would think that once I have 10k visits per month, that there will be a market for it.
3 New Niche Websites
In the past 3 weeks, I have launched 3 new niche websites and I’m fairly excited about two of them. The other one, I just bought because I already have some backlinks that I can edit and use for this purpose. It’s not exactly something I am passionate about, but I’m sure I can rank for some long-tail searches. I have no desire to write content for this website, so that will be a challenge.
The other two niche websites are both different. One is using an Amazon script which I will write more about once I am comfortable with it and see some results. So far, so good. It pulls in products and makes a very nice e-commerce website. I’m somewhat skeptical though, on how well it will rank.
The last website is one on a topic that both my wife and I are passionate about and can write TONS of content. The strategy here is simply to put up a nice website with lots of content over time, and focus on getting traffic…lots of it. Once there’s traffic, there are lots of ways to make money from it. I just don’t want to ruin my chances of ranking by adding too much advertising and affiliate links at the beginning. This is a temptation that I fight all the time.
