I’ve been looking for revenue opportunities (other than Adsense) for my article directories as they just aren’t earning very much money. In January so far, I’ve made something ridiculous (50 cents?) from Adsense on these article directories. Of course they aren’t getting a lot of traffic yet, but between the 3 of them, they are seeing about 200 unique visitors each day. They are getting found by searchers coming from Yahoo, Bing and Google and I expect them to increase.
I’ve been racking my brain as to how to make some money with these directories as they were started on a whim. I just wanted to see how the business worked. With Adsense clicks being few and far between and paying pretty poorly, I wanted something else.
I started searching around and found InfoLinks and Kontera. After doing some research decided to try InfoLinks first and put Kontera on the backburner. If you aren’t familiar with either, essentially what InfoLinks (and Kontera) do is search through your website and add those double-underlined links to keywords in the text of your website. People can hover over them to see an advertisement and click them to go to the advertisers website. Similar to Adsense, but right in the text and it’s all automated. You control how many go on a page and their click-though rates are better than Adsense in many cases.
Installation of InfoLinks is VERY easy, even if you barely know what you are doing. It’s a simple script that you copy and paste and you’re ready to roll. You can edit the look of your links to edit the color and the underline. It couldn’t be any easier.
The good news for me so far is that their click-through rate is almost 5%, which for me is incredible compared to what I was seeing with Adsense. I’m very happy with it so far!
If you haven’t checked them out, I would seriously consider it.
